The majority of the top Speed Skydiving athletes in the world is working together as the governing body of Speed Skydiving, known as the International Speed Skydiving Association. The driving force of the ISSA has always been to be a democratic entity working for the good of Speed Skydiving, to ensure it's growth as a sports discipline, and to push Speed Skydiving as a future FAI/IPC discipline. The ISSA was started early 1999 as a brainchild of Ken Hansen (Norway) following a discussion with Niels Brusgaard (Denmark). Later that year, John Loken (also Norway), Didier Boignon and Mike Brooke (both France) joined the ISSA. Later the same year, the ISSA spawned the ISST (an international speed skydiving tribe led by Mike Brooke). The ISSA approved the ISST as organizers of the 2000-2003 ISST World Cups. But now, following a year of controversy between the ISST and it's governing body, the ISSA (who is in fact the majority of the top international speed skydiving athletes with representatives from Norway, Liechtenstein, France, England, Switzerland, Italy and the US) decided to withdraw the ISST's approval to organize any future Speed Skydiving Competitions.
