i'm currently an aff student with 8 jumps. and with my love for all things fast (cars, bikes, music, rollercoasters ect.) i am higly interested in speed skydiving. so on to my ?s
with out gear i weigh 135 lbs. and have been told i will either need to wear weights or gain some weight to match fall rates with other jumpers. how much weight should i think about gaining for speed skydiving? 10, 15, 20 lbs?
also once i get my A license which discipline should i concentrate on to get into speed skydiving? and what kind of jump numbers should i have? blue skies!

Scot,
Weight is not a defining factor in speed skydiving - balance and right body position are probably 2 biggest factors. But weight, or more precisely, density does help, even though some of my fellow speeders might not agree with me.
There is no specific discipline, that is "good" for speed skydiving, but I would assume that free flying, and head down specifically, would make you more aware about your body position and more comfortable with speed.
As for number of jumps, I'd say about 200 jumps is probably a good place to start trying speed.

Be sure you have gear that is VERY freefly friendly before you try speeding.... everything must be very tight with no bridle exposure etc....you do NOT want to have a premature opening at these kinds of speeds
